WhatsApp for E-commerce

Bring your store closer to your customers.

Extend your e-commerce experience into WhatsApp. Let customers discover products, ask questions, share attachments, receive order-related updates and communicate with your business through a familiar messaging experience.

Overview

An integration with your store, not a separate shop.

WhatsApp for E-commerce connects WhatsApp to the e-commerce platform or backend you already run. Product, stock and order information comes from your systems through approved APIs, so answers in WhatsApp match your website.

It is an integration solution: we scope each connection to your platform, your APIs and WhatsApp Business Platform policies. It is not pre-integrated with every e-commerce platform, and workflows are agreed with you rather than switched on by default.

A good fit when

  • Customers already ask product and order questions on WhatsApp
  • Your store or backend exposes, or can expose, suitable APIs
  • You want automation with a clear route to your team
  • Order and customer data must stay protected

How it works

From a WhatsApp message to an answer from your store.

Each message passes through a secure automation layer that talks to your store’s APIs. Credentials stay on the server.

  1. Customer on WhatsApp

Sends a question, image or request.

    • Message
    • Media
  2. WhatsApp Business integration

Receives messages through the WhatsApp Business Platform.

    • Webhooks
  3. Sharpflux automation layer

Identifies the request, applies rules and decides on automation or handover.

    • Rules
    • Handover
  4. E-commerce API

Authorised calls to your store or backend.

    • Catalogue
    • Orders
  5. Product or order information

Only the data the customer is entitled to see.

    • Access control
  6. WhatsApp response

A reply, product details or a handover to staff.

    • Reply
Conceptual workflow. The systems, data and workflows are agreed for each integration.

Attachments are not analysed by AI, and orders or payments are not completed inside WhatsApp, unless that is specifically designed, built and permitted for your integration.

Before we build

What we agree with you first.

  1. Which system is the source of truth for products, stock and orders?

We integrate with that system’s approved APIs, so WhatsApp answers always match your store.

  2. How is a customer identified before order details are shared?

An agreed, secure identification step runs before any order or account information is returned.

  3. When should a person take over the conversation?

Handover rules are defined up front, and staff receive the conversation context with the handover.

  4. Which messages and templates do WhatsApp policies allow?

Opt-in, message templates and notification types are designed within WhatsApp Business Platform policies.

FAQs

Questions about WhatsApp for E-commerce.

Which e-commerce platforms can be connected to WhatsApp?

Any store or custom backend that offers suitable APIs can be assessed. The solution is not pre-integrated with every platform, so we confirm what your platform supports during scoping.

Can customers send photos or documents on WhatsApp?

Customers can share supported media, such as a product reference image, as part of a configured workflow. Supported formats and size limits depend on the WhatsApp Business Platform configuration and are confirmed for your integration.

Can customers place orders or pay inside WhatsApp?

Only if that is specifically designed, built and permitted for your integration. Otherwise, conversations can link customers to the relevant pages on your website to order and pay.

Where are WhatsApp and store API credentials kept?

On a secure backend. Access tokens and API keys are never placed in website or app front-end code, and calls to your store use authorised, limited-scope access.

Do WhatsApp conversations have to use AI?

No. Many flows work well with clear rules and menus. AI-assisted replies can be added where they help and where you configure them, with handover to your team for anything they should not answer.
